No More BrookFieldAngler?!

Although many people have hid behind this excuse in the past, it is still valid and a lesson that people will continuously learn. I, too, am learning this and the lesson is bringing me to a major dilemma in terms of this website/blog.

As life progresses, people get older, they get married, and they have kids. What once worked for them may no longer work as time moves on. I am at that impasse in life now and decisions have been made.

So what does that mean for all of you crazy people who actually read this stuff? Is it the end? Will you have to seek poorly written and barely entertaining stories elsewhere?

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

The site is going nowhere but I am!

My current home is just too small for our growing family and we all need some more space. The financing has been secured and the official house hunt begins this weekend! I will no longer be a resident of the town of Brookfield so the name won't exactly work in it's original intention but with a tiny play on words, it can still work so BrookFieldAngler shall remain!

Our target area will put me closer to waters that I frequently fish anyways so it's almost safe to assume that I may even be able to get out more which means more fish porn and bad writing for you all to "enjoy"!

Woohoo!

  1. Good luck with the move. I hope things are all for the better, they seem to be. BTW, I'm experiencing the same dilemma with my blog Troutrageous in moving somewhere with no trout. Well, at least there's sea trout...but not really the same thing! I can sympathize.

  2. I really do enjoy your bad writing. Like lemon juice in a paper cut.

  3. LOL I'm glad that the blog will continue, I enjoy it! As for the name...what a pain it turned out to be when I not only changed the name of my blog, but also turned it into a self-hosted blog. Talk about having to start from scratch to get views to the blog. Good luck with the house search!

    1. That's a big fear I have of completely changing. In all reality, I love writing and posting stuff here, but I just don't have the energy to start fresh.

    1. Absolutely! The closer to fishing part is my real motivation - just don't let my wife know that

  5. Congratulations on your bigger family home, you will be better for it. In the grand scheme of things, the fact that you do not live in your namesake town anymore on't make any difference at all.

    1. That's what I was thinking. Besides, I have fished in small brooks and flooded fields so it can still work!

  9. Hey Nick, don't you be scaring me like that. The old ticker couldn't take it again. Good luck with your move and remember, there is nothing wrong with a new/different perspective. I predict great things continuing here.

  10. Due to the recent floods, at least you'll know where not to look. If heading out Fox River way, I wouldn't go north of Batavia. The water sucks up that way. There's a place for sale down the road from me. Surrounded on three sides by a forest preserve. You'd like it. See if this link works.

    1. I was thinking about doing something along the same lines on April fools day, but it would have been too obvious. Besides...everyone else was already doing it.

  13. Dealing with a lot of the same things... house for sale, growing family and trying to decide the direction of my blog. Probably taking the leap to wordpress and starting fresh... likely do an archive page to just hit some highlights from the decade of having a website. Blogger has plenty of layouts and is easy to get going but I am constantly frustrated by trying to put photos side by side or any kind of customization inside a post. I often return to page and see that the way it displays has changed overnight without me doing anything.

Who knows what the next few weeks and months will hold but I do want to get it figured out. I have been catching fish and not even motivated to post about it as I haven't been happy with my blog.

    1. I am thinking about doing the wordpress thing as well. It just seems like such an investment in time and having to learn something about actually making a website with all that code. I don't know...maybe I'll make a small trial site just to learn with before I move this site over to Wordpress.
