Hello Madison IIa Fly reel!

Well, color me lucky!

As many of you may know, I took part of project/contest through the Outdoor Blogger Network where fifteen of my fellow bloggers got to test an incredible bamboo fly rod built by Fall River Fly Rods. Included with that rod was a Madison II reel from Montana Fly Co. At the end of it, one of the lucky bloggers was randomly selected to become the permanent owner. That lucky blogger was.....

...not me. Instead, it's in the hands of Joel at the blog A Year On The Fly. Congrats again Joel!!

So how does that make me lucky?!

Well, the fine folks at OBN, Rio, and Montana Fly Company offered up some other goodies to be given away to some of the other participants. I was randomly selected to receive a brand spanking new 5/6wt Madison IIa reel in the Sylvester Digital Brown color scheme and received it early last week!

If you aren't familiar with the Madison reel line up then you probably wouldn't know that almost every reel they have features and incredible graphic that is implemented on just about ever visible part! On top of that, they are great reels with a strong and smooth drag system. If you are in the market for a new reel, make sure you check them out! In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the one I received. Now I just have to figure out where it's place will be in my line up of fly fishing gear!

    1. Me neither! I'm thinking that I might throw a sink tip line on it and just swap out reels whenever I need to go from floating to sinking with my 6wt. Still not sure yet.
