Attention all of you canoe'ers! Be careful out there! This happened in a tiny little retention pond in suburban Chicago. This is purely speculation at this point, but I would imagine that alcohol and a lack of a flotation device are partially to blame.
No matter how big or large the body of water is, be careful and prepared!

Update 4: It seems as if the Lemont Fire Department has finished searching with no new results. As I read some of the comments from the various reporting agencies on this story, I am becoming more and more convinced that foul play may be a part of this.
The Dupage County Sheriff's department are talking to people in the area to see if anybody saw anything. As of now, no new searches of the pond are scheduled.
My prayers are with him and his family.
