Back on the water!!!!!!!!

Got back out on the water today at Busse Lake and had a nice night. It has been several weeks since that last time I got to go fishing because of recently starting school and more importantly getting my pilot's license reinstated. These things took up a lot of time and my wallet is still healing!!!! However, I did get all of that accomplished so I am back on the water with a new camera mount and camera.

The new camera mount is the X-shot 2.0 and it can be purchased as just the extension for a camera or bundled with the ram mount and used in conjuction to get action shots. The mount worked out great and I am happy that I bought one because it allows me to get some good action shots. Yesterday was the first time I used the new camera as well. I purchased an Olympus Tough 610 after my Sanyo went belly up after only two months of use and was in the shop for over 6 weeks.

Went out for a little over two hours and landed one nice 2.5lb bass and missed two others. Fished the west side of the south pool with no luck. Used a yellow perch #8 x-rap, 3/8 white strike king spinner bait, a 7" roboworm in green and brown, and finally a Bizz Bait Pad Daddy in black. Went down to where salt creek flows into the south pool and it was real muddy but there was some good current, however; got nothing there. Started to head towards the east side of the south pool when I noticed some bait fish sitting by clumps of weeds near the surface. I saw some fish busting the surface and could not tell if they were carp, so that is when I put the Bizz Baits Pad Daddy on. No luck for about the first 10 minutes but then got to the northwest shoreline and there was some light slop with wood in the water. Several Casts later, and that nice bass hit. Hooked him good and landed him with no problem. Then proceeded down that shoreline continuing to work shallow light slop. I missed a small one and several casts later I missed a really nice one but got to see him right by the boat! He was at least two inches bigger than the first one however I missed him as well.

Water was 81-83 degrees and varied in clarity due to the rain and runoff from salt creek. Should have put a new frog on because I was skin hooking the frog because that other bass destroyed the lure. No biggie. Got to try out the new camera mount and that worked great and overall had a nice night on the water. Good to be back out!!!!!! Should have some good vids now that I have the mount in place.

Here is the link to the video and the first use of the camera and the mounting system. If anyone has a kayak or even a boat this mount is nice and easy to install. I love the camera and the videos are all from the Olympus Tough and the stills are from the Sanyo which I did get back from the shop finally.

  2. Thanks very much!!!! I was going to do a blog and wound up developing a hunting forum but then thought videos would be cool. I am hoping to refine the technique and get another mount for my other camera facing rearward. They are both able to take underwater vids as well but Busse was not clear enough for any underwater shots. Thanks for watching the youtube channel as well!!!!!!

  3. Hey Tom! Glad to see you back out on the yak!!! That current you were targeting was absolutely text book! When are we going to start airplane trolling?

  4. Sorry I was idle for so long. I hope to have some interesting stuff coming up. Planning on doing some trolling (out of the yak) on Lake Michigan for fall salmon. Airplane trolling can start whenever you are ready. Although we may have to go for blue marlin or something because our slowest speed will be about 65kts. Just lemme know and we will get out in the plane. Congrats again on your son's arrival hope your wife is feeling well also!!!!!!!!

  8. If ever I caught a big fish I will take my DSLR to take a couple of shots. Anyway I really like your gadgets at the yak. I think it would cost me big time to have that one. ( grins*)
